From the Bible
It's astonishing to think about what God is capable of when we read the story in John 6: 1-15. It tells us how 5000 men plus women and children were fed from just 1 young lad being willing to give up his 5 barley loaves and 2 fish. Then when everyone was fed, what was left over was collected and filled up 12 baskets!! God multiplies our giving when it is done for the purpose of His kingdom!
Current
A few years ago , Jeff had a vision of starting a baseball team as a way of reaching out to the youth boys of the surrounding communities. He thought, "if I could just get the equipment, we could get started". Well, shortly after taking some time to pray and allow God to provide, someone called and said they had all the equipment we needed if we were willing to come pick it up! Thank you Lord and that willing person who was willing to give to the purpose of building up God's kingdom. The first teams that were formed were few in number; yet the gospel was shared during a break time in the game to all who came. As time went on, there was a turnover of players and the gospel continued to be shared. Today we have been able to see how God's word has made an impact on many lives. We are grateful for the dedication of Joaquin and his wife Luz who now head up the baseball ministry.
The outreach continues and now includes young women on the teams! Because of those who have seen the value and importance of a sports ministry, young players continue to hear the gospel. In the last year we have received much more excellent equipment from those with a passion for baseball ministry. The investment has paid off, souls who would not hear the gospel in church have heard it on the ball field!
Other
Jeff was recently released from his position as Associate Pastor of Sunrise Church due to lack of funding. He is now doing handyman work and working on increasing the support base of HFMM in order to allow him to be dedicated full time to missions.
